Installing a socketed processor in your computer is as simple as lining up the pins on the processor with the holes in the socket. There is usually an arrow to assist with this. Then lift the lever on the side of the socket, insert the processor and lower the lever to hold it in place.
Apply a tiny amount of thermal paste to the CPU's die. This will aid in the conduction of heat between the CPU and the microprocessor cooler. Use just enough to get good contact, too much will not dissipate heat properly.
Attach the microprocessor cooler unit over the processor and fasten any clasps. Be sure everything is properly aligned, don't force anything. Depending on the type of cooling unit, you would then either plug it into it's socket on the motherboard or fastened to a plug from the computer cases power supply.
